About Madison Burkott
Madison Burkott is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with diverse experience working with people with different backgrounds. She earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). Madison is trained in vocational rehabilitation, mental health therapy, and working with individuals with disabilities.
Madison received a Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a minor in American Sign Language Interpretation at UTRGV. She is aiming to continue her education and get a PhD/PsyD in Clinical Psychology or related field within the next 5 years.
Madison has experience working with people of all ages through individual counseling, couples counseling, and group counseling. Madison believes that each individual is unique with one of a kind needs. Madison works to assist her clients in their personal growth and development using research based counseling modalities, such as, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Madison is actively pursuing certification in Eye-Movement-Desensitization-Reprocessing (EMDR) and plans to complete the training by the end of the year (2026).
Madison has years of experience working as a school counselor for middle and high school adolescents. Madison aided in emotional, social, and academic support in the school setting. She was an advocate for the students she worked with and acted as the sole Crisis Lead for student related mental health emergencies.
Madison has experience leading group counseling for professionals, students, and clients. She enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families to improve communication and connection in relationships.
Madison completed training in somatic based therapy for those with anxiety. She completed the American Counseling Association training in A Somatic Toolkit for Healing Anxiety in 2026.
Madison is trained in skills to work with trauma and neurodevelopmental issues with children. She completed the American Counseling Association certificate in Counseling Interventions and Evidence-Based Treatment for Specific Issues with Children and Youth in 2025.
