About Leslie Reyes
Leslie is from Brownsville, Texas, where she was born and raised. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling at UTRGV. Leslie is completing her clinical internship with New Leaf Mental Health.
During her undergraduate studies, Leslie worked at the Student Union, where she enjoyed interacting with and supporting older adult students. She also worked as a substitute teacher for a year, which allowed her to work with children and students of all ages and helped her better understand how young people interact and navigate their environments.
Leslie had the exciting opportunity to serve as a research assistant at UTRGV and contributed to a chapter in the book Assessing and Treating Behavioral Addictions, published by Dr. Rommel Johnson, Ph.D., and Reuben Mwangi, which explored behavioral addictions and emerging treatment approaches.
In her work, Leslie practices a person-centered approach while integrating other therapeutic modalities to best support each individual’s needs. She aims to create a safe and supportive space where individuals feel heard and respected. Her passion for this field continues to grow, and she hopes to provide meaningful support to those she works with.
