About Oscar Cortez

Oscar Cortez is a Licensed Paramedic in the State of  Texas and completed his master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Capella University.  Oscar is a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served during the Desert Storm/Desert Shield conflict in Southwest Asia. 

​Oscar is currently pursuing his passion of helping others including first responders and Veterans alike. Oscar enjoys using the Cognitive Behavioral Theory and the Solution-focused approach. In addition, Oscars’ innovative approach to play therapy has proven successful with many of his clients.

Some of his interests include bringing therapy outdoors and using domesticated animals as part of a therapeutic approach. After completing his degree in counseling, he has plans to continue and finish the Ph.D. in Advanced Studies of Human Behavior also from Capella University.
